I’m Daniel Gálvez Sánchez, and for the past four years I’ve been teaching physics in middle school using Science Bits as part of our teaching approach. During this time, I’ve seen that teaching science goes far beyond explaining formulas or asking students to memorize concepts. My goal is for them to understand the phenomena they encounter every day and discover why science is part of their everyday lives.
What I value most about the Science Bits approach is that learning begins with a question. The 5E model guides students step by step: first, they observe a phenomenon; then they explore it, formulate hypotheses, investigate, and ultimately construct an evidence-based explanation. This inquiry-based approach has completely changed the way my students approach science in middle school.
I’ve seen their curiosity grow in every class. The videos, simulations, and activities in Science Bits materials keep students motivated and help them understand complex concepts in a visual and relatable way. Rather than providing answers, Science Bits encourages them to ask better questions.
After these years, I’m convinced that this way of teaching strengthens critical thinking, develops scientific competencies, and makes science education in Mexican middle schools a much more meaningful experience. When students discover for themselves how the world around them works, science stops being just a subject and becomes a tool for understanding the world.
